AdviceFinder is a directory, not a financial adviser
AdviceFinder lists financial advisers who hold a licence on the Financial Service Providers Register (FSPR). We help you find and evaluate advisers — we do not give financial advice ourselves.
Nothing on this website — including adviser profiles, reviews, rankings, articles, guides, or any other content — constitutes financial advice. Reading an adviser's profile is not the same as receiving advice from them.
Licensed means FSPR-registered, not endorsed
When we list an adviser as “licensed”, we mean we have confirmed their FSP registration against the FSPR at the time their profile was created or last updated. This confirms that an adviser is, or was, registered as a financial services provider in New Zealand.
It does not mean:
- We endorse the adviser or their approach to advice
- We have assessed the quality of their advice
- We guarantee any particular outcome if you engage them
You should always check an adviser's current registration status yourself at companiesoffice.govt.nz/fsp before engaging them. FSPR data changes and our directory may not reflect the most current status at any given moment.
Reviews reflect client experience, not professional assessment
Reviews on AdviceFinder are submitted by people who have confirmed they are, or were, a client of the adviser. We confirm the client relationship. We do not verify the accuracy of opinions expressed, and we do not assess whether the advice described was appropriate or correct.
Reviews are personal experiences. They are not professional assessments, and they should be read as one input among many when choosing an adviser.
Rankings are not recommendations
Advisers are ranked using a merit-based scoring system that draws on confirmed review data. Rankings reflect the data we hold — they are not a recommendation to use any particular adviser, and a higher-ranked adviser is not necessarily the right adviser for your situation.
External links
AdviceFinder may link to external websites, including the FSPR, the Financial Markets Authority (FMA), and other resources. We are not responsible for the content of external sites.
Your responsibility
Choosing a financial adviser is an important decision. AdviceFinder gives you better information to make that decision — but the decision is yours.
If you're not sure where to start, the Financial Markets Authority has free, independent resources at fma.govt.nz, and Sorted.org.nz offers independent financial guidance for New Zealanders.
